Updates GALORE

Okaay.. i’m just gonna talk about the lil changes i’ve made to this lil domain of mine.

I decided i needed to beef up what i was offering here.. there were ideas of surveys.. there were ideas of nude photos.. there were ideas of crazy flash movies.. naturally none of these actually happened and the true updates are very very minimal… which i suppose could be seen as my style.. (who knows really?).

I’ve reformatted the writings, info, links pages.. so their a bit more clean.. and after coming to this huge lightening bolt of a conclusion (thanks to basically every single other blog out there) i redid the “me” section of the page.. so it’s a bit more navigable (i’m not sure if that’s a word.. if it isn’t.. it is NOW)..

Last on the updates is the lil “currently” section down the bottom.. i suppose this is where the real content comes in.. naturally these are just lil writeups of what i’m stuck up on the most at the time (in the way of the book i’m reading.. cos i’m always reading a book.. and also in the cd/music of choice atm)..

ps: check out Cure for the Itch.. a really nice minimal-set-out page.. and with really funky fonts!.. (also massive ruhspect must be paid cos my new “me” section is formatted slightly like jaime’s)..

Exams .. so imminent

Just finished my last assignment for the semester (and hence year).. it was actually my major project, which because of my jury-duty i had to extend.. anyway.. it’s done. Sitting here next to me looking all smug and.. boring.

The above-mentioned jury-duty completely put my uni internal clocking-system outta whack and i didn’t realise that my exams were in less then 2 weeks. This time last semester i’m sure i was elbow deep in exam study time-table. Doing this and that, revising, past papers, sample papers. papers! ..

I don’t think it should be this bad.. 4 exams.. atleast two of them contain multi-guess questions.. what *IS* screwey about the exams is the fact that i have 1 on the 11th, one on the 12th, one on the 13th, and the last one on the.. 20th!?.. i mean.. wtf..

Ah well.. Em reminds me that “atleast they’ll be over quicker” .. which is so true.

This goes out to all those ppl who are studying right now.. u know who u are ;)

well.. it’s been in the design stage for quite a while, but it wasn’t until michelle started nagging that i got this ball rolling, so i spent half today getting it out of the design into the implementation you see in front of you.

Movie sites work for me..

I wrote this entry yesturday.. but i think MT decided to have a lil spac.

.. I’ll try and remember what i said ..

In general, i don’t find flash very appealing on websites. Personal sites, blogs etc. But i do believe strongly in it’s place in other parts of the web… time-filler-games (i don’t like.. though flash is suited perfectly)..lil animations of the comedic genre.. and what my POINT is.. Movie sites. Interactive Movie sites.

One such example i found.. which is naturally cos i loved the movie so much .. is the Minority Report’s Website..

Another good movie-flash-”i don’t have to be angry at you flash” example site would have to be the website for Requiem For A Dream.. i believe at the time this site won an award.. and rightly so.. it’s a masterfully done Flash-esque website.. that drives u almost as insane as the movie did.. ahh..

now onto the site which spawned this entry.. ie for Donnie Darko.. now i haven’t seen this movie, but have heard from some friends that it is REALLY good.. so i’m dying to go and see it..(here’s the site)..

i wouldn’t even know where to begin to make a site like these ones.. and frankly, i’m glad. ..
I’ll leave all that up to those crazy multi-media-artist-gurus.

It’s a hot-potato, it has to keep on moving

.. this is just a small entry to say thanks to a few ppl.

Firstly, to Ikki for her re-posting of my shameless adoration-camstill. My comment still stands.. that god-damned red-site gets me “Hot”..

Secondly, to Michelle.. for her 15th Layout which has inspired me for my next revision of un-excogitate.org. ps: if u haven’t already, check out glitter.. it’s a web-directory run by Michelle which is also very cool. (Must be noted that the new layout for this site is also roughly based off her layout15.. ahh great minds.. great.. <insert witty anything>).

I dunno when the new layout will be up.. i’m sick, i’m tired, i’m super busy with work and uni, and i’m expected to do jury-duty.. *sigh*

Hell no. They need to be prepared. TV (as an entity + presence) is only getting larger. They can’t hide from it. Their the McGeneration…

Its the lil things in life that make me smile

.. Rewards for things that you enjoy doing are so strange. Website design has been something i’ve enjoyed for so long, it’s ridiculous. I don’t claim to be the best or even that extraordinary at what i do, but i enjoy it. Same with gfx work, in all honesty i really suck at it.. but i still do it and i still enjoy it.
So when you get recognition from ppl up the food chain (that being the crazy ass internet/weblog food chain.. which as because of my mentioned ordinaryness i alway perceive myself at the bottom).. it makes it all seem worthwhile. I mean, like ikki was saying on her LJ.. what do we really offer to the world? to the internet?.. i couldn’t even begin to think of how thick the blog-systems flow on this crazy ass un-controlled, de-centralised network, and the actual percentage of that mess that is useful to people. It’s all vanity i’m assuming, but there MUST be a percent that is actual good… good being “Recipes for the best chocolate cake in the universe”, “How to make $1Mil for real”, “How to get (and keep) that special person”.. i mean.. useful content…

so as i was trying to get to.. the food-chain.. i check out sites like echoica.net and Hyperviolence and Lavysh and Waferbaby.. and i seriously look up to these ppl.. and .. i don’t know why.. but when i get noticed or recognised it feels good.

The turning of pages

OOoooh right. As of, say.. 30 seconds ago, the pages of my life leaped forward a chapter, or perhaps it just happened to come to a new chapter. Either way things are feeling really good.
Just finished a group-presentation at uni that has been bothering me for a while, and another assignment due on friday is very, very near to completion (Soon C++ will be *my* bitch!).
Unfortunately i know that this good spell will die somewhere on the weekend. .. U know what my poison is? Jury Duty. Come Monday, i am going to have to rock up at some court-room place for i think about a week, and sit round and .. be like bored.. I know a lot of ppl might think/take it very seriously, but.. i’m just too apathetic for it.. all i’ll be thinking about is how much time this is wasting from the other things i SHOULD be doing. IE: Uni.. Music.. Em.. Work
I’ve heard a multitude of ideas for me to be not-chosen, some include rocking up un-bathed and badly dressed, which will hopefully lead them to NOT choosing me to be a juror. Someone else just said be really really rude and racist etc etc.. course i couldn’t do something like that, it’s too much against my nature…
If only this had come on the holidays, it would have been nice. A filler to my other-wise extraordinarily dull break.
Speaking of.. Uni is so nearly finished.. God.. i can smell it :).. I’ve also come to a decision about my future.. for a while (say about.. a yr) i’ve wanted to graduate with Honours, which requires me to study for an additional year before i get my degree, problem is i NEED to get out in the work-force and start rolling in the dosh.. so i’ve decided to try and work for a while after i’ve finished, and later on in life, go back and do my Masters.. which sounds like not only the Honours work, but a couple of units tacked on too… Yay for enjoying uni..

After .. every single add-break during the sunday night movie (it was “The Mummy”) .. i’ve finished configuring moveable type to by my new bitch.
