what was I thinking? (Christian Frichot’s ad-lib on security and what-not)

You can tell summer has officially finished, because for the last 24ish hours, we’ve been hit by some pretty thick thunder + lightening storms! (check out my weather camshot!.. actually, that shot makes it look like i’m living in the country.. but don’t be fooled!.. Perth, Western Australia DOES in fact have tall buildings!.. ).. So to make the best use of the occasion I had Em over for the evening, and we did the whole romantic storm/cuddle/candle thing. It was so spectacular! (it still makes me smile now)

Anyway, that’s all I really wanted to say.. but before you leave, you guys have to check out petisa.net.. i LOVE the layout!.. and the fact that u can change it! (so very, very cool)

First off, have to check this out! www.melangeband.com Soon there shall be some photos, and all will rejoice!

.. anyway..

Hahaha.. www.masturbateforpeace.com/
This is classic! (and ofcourse i signed up in a blink!)

Lastly!.. SHELL’s BACK!.. Yayay!.. so go check her out again!.. *mua!*

orite, you can now download the entire melange demo from www.mp3.com.au/melange/.. i know their only 128Kbps quality, if you REALLY want them in higher quality, email me.

Now.. i was going to put this up for a while.. but here it is anyway.. the semi-detailed recording diarys of me..

This is done over the weekend we recorded.. to continue click more..

Before i continue, you must be warned that this entry is NOT by me.. it is in fact by some random canadian (actually, not that random, good friend of mine who just HAPPENS to be canadian / and in canada)..

So let the fun commence…

Hello everyone that reads this that I know :) Isn’t Christian wonderful, putting a pathetic Canadian on his web page, because all her friends are in Perth?! As you can see, I am wearing a BONDS shirt….Very Australian, I know! Anyway, have fun in whatever you’re doing. I may be back soon, because with this war there is a good chance I will become a refugee.
Love always Vicki.

www.osseuslabyrint.net
Site uses Multimedia such as Flash/Quicktime and works faster with broadband
This site is amazing. For anyone having any sort of interest in Tool you’ll know what i’m talking about. Osseus Labyrint are a pair of visual performers who focus their energies on weird contortions and very primitive (i mean ooze/sludge primitive) motions. The site itself is nothing spectacular, but some of the media available off this site is terrific. Click on the “Archives” link, then “Videos”.. definately check out the Slugz clip and the Pachyderms clip.. It’s all good.

Next Exit 0.5 Million Kilometers
Warning, very scientific
For those who can be bothered reading a bit (and yes, i didn’t understand most of this document) .. this article can be found to be very interesting. Just the idea of all these gravitational wells out in space, helping us propel items out and around the universe kind of spins my head!

The Big Rip
Warning, more scientific crap
Most of this article is talking about one of the consequences of the Big Bang, ie: the Big-Rip. At the end of all things, the universe ends out shredding itself to pieces. “It rips apart clusters of galaxies. It rips apart stars. It rips apart planets and solar systems. And it eventually rips apart all matter.” Most of this is pretty interesting in itself, but the part that spun my head was riight at the end, the “Alternative Final Chapter” .. which discusses the possibility of a cyclical universe, without beginning or end, but with big-bangs.. big-rips.. big-bangs etc etc.
In a theory put forth two years ago by Steinhardt and his colleagues, our universe is but a membrane, or brane, floating in a five-dimensional space. It is destined to collide dramatically with another brane. The idea, labeled the Ekpyrotic Universe, would replace portions of the Big Bang scenario while sticking to the presently accepted estimates of acceleration.

finally on the list of “sites-0-the-moment”.

Review: What a Body Can Do..
Warning, i didn’t get ANY of this.. but my sister did write it.
Yeh.. gotta pass you guys onto family members right? (it’s so legal to plug family people!)

.. I want to write an entry here.. an entry that explains and describes how I feel and how this music is affecting me, but I’m SO afraid of it coming out wrong. Or the justice of the situation not being met. (Believe me, there’s plenty of Justice)…

There’s a song that we’ve (M?lange) been playing for a while now, and to tell you the truth, it’s just a song. I never found anything earth-shattering about it. Nothing out of the extraordinary, but now having this track on cd… everything that I once thought of this song has been thrown out the window… All previous conceptions (which were obviously mis-conceptions) have been erased and replaced with these feelings, that for the longest time I haven’t felt (regarding music that I’ve had a hand (or fist) in)..
This song moves me like I used to be moved by certain Hero Noone tracks. (A band I used to play in, in highschool) Which is quite odd, like I almost lost *that* part of me, and I’ve just found it again, in a shoebox that was kicked under the table a long time ago. I’ve been thinking about high-school a bit lately actually, I do miss knowing people.

But… ..

I feel happy.

Hrms.. i WILL have to have a proper entry regarding how the recording went, but i just don’t have the time at the moment.. so you’ll have to wait :)

Why: After seeing them at the bdo 2003 and hearing “No One Knows” a lot on JJJ i just had to get my hands on this album, and eventually i did.

Thoughts So Far: .. raw. This album is so raw it’s great. The drum sound is just so rough, and the guitars just sound perfect (imho) for what they’re trying to accomplish. Unfortunately for me and my dense-ness i’m not *entirely* sure what they’ve done with the vocalists. I’m quite positive there’s atleast 2 different singers on the album, and maybe even more. In saying that i have to admit i do prefer what i like to think of as the “main” singer’s voice, compared to the other people who sing. It’s just so nice and refined (clean) compared to how the guitars are coming out. What’s great about this album is definately the start. I often find myself never paying that much attention to the end of albums, because i always find they get all the right songs at the start, and kind of fill space @ the middle-end, then finish strongly. (radiohead and tool are maybe 2 bands i can think of off the top of my head who have consistently strong albums) So as i was saying, the first like 7ish tracks of this cd are solid. They are just so on-track they make me squirm. First It Giveth is great, song for the dead etc etc. All great songs, i felt like they portreyed what QOTSA are all about. Not to say that the rest of the songs suck, cos they don’t. I just felt that the quality of the first 7ish tracks is just SO high, it’d be almost impossible to keep that up the whole album. Thank god for Song For The Deaf (track 13) to re-inforce their whole attitude towards the end. Excellent Track!

this friday , saturday (maybe sunday) melange (ie: Deav, Bj, & I) are going to be doing our demo recording. I’m excited, in fact, we’re ALL excited! .. It’s like a culmination of events and long-hard hours that have gotten us to where we are now. In theory, with this recording, we should be able to pull more shows and get the word out.

I’m really looking forward to getting into the environment of recording-ness, i can’t remember the last time i was in one. I think it might have been for the BLAST furnace CD a couple of years back. That was good, but this time it’s going to feel all very pro. We’re in the hands of a mate of mine whom i trust musically (which is a definite if u want them doing the mixing/mastering/etc).. his outfitted his house with a fairly large sound-proof room and a nice desk/computer setup.

Only thing i have to worry about is how well i’ll play on his kit. I mean, it’ll basically be setup like i set my shit up, but i’m still a bit nervous (as is the case).. because we’ll be doing all the recording live (the vox after) any fuck-ups mid-song mean we have to start again. I’m fairly confident that the bass-tracks will go down a treat, but i can just see the guitars + drums being a bit of a nuisance, and the cause of many *sighs* “hold-up hold-up, we gotta start that track again” sorta action.

Anyway.. *dash*

ps: i’ll try and take some photos yeh?

.. so last night whilst Em was away for her mum’s birthday i got out some vids, nothing spectacular, except later on in the evening my sister also proceeded to get out some movies, one of which was “Birthday Girl” starring the lovely (and surprisingly sultry) Nicole Kidman .. and the always cute pom Ben Chaplin.

Wasn’t expecting a lot from this movie, but i did recieve a pleasant surprise, and my GOD Kidman can be SO damn sexy. (and i thought played a russian pretty damn well). Great movie, lots of stiffled laughs and scenes of shock. Other times just feeling so Sad for the Protagonist that you just want to scream!..

Surprisingly good.

Oh.. ps: michelle fucking rocks!.. that girl sure does rock… rock rock rock.

bleech. First week back @ university this week, and lets say. It’s been disgustingly busy + bad!

1st con: i’ve been sick all week, which is completely crap. Unfortunately for me, because i still haven’t had a free day to just try and shake it off, i’m still feeling sick + throaty even now.

2nd con: uni is much more busy than i last remembered! I somehow (through 2 of the likely candidates saying “No”) got chosen as the group-leader for our main 1-year project… god. As if i wasn’t busy enough.

3rd: I had to call in sick for a shift @ the cafe, naturally when i tried to call the boss and tell them this, they weren’t in, so i had to pull the “I’ll call the boss on the Day and tell them i’m sick” routine!.. which totally blows.. and i *HATE* doing that to people.

BUT, apart from ALL of that, things seem to be going well!.

I also have to apologise (and mention) for the crazy long song-titles in the “Currently” section. I’ve been completely hooked on the Queens Of The Stone Age album “Songs for the Deaf”.. i shall soon have an entry for it.. but until then.. just put up with the crazily long titles.
