fire up
It’s that time of the year again, that’s right the 2004 bloggies. Just like last year I find myself rummaging through the list clicking on some of the sites, hardly recognising others, seeing a few eye-openers, and then seeing a handful of the sites I love. Even though the prize-pool is small it’s still quite a collection of websites there, I think the site that really stuck out the most was mezzoblue, which as scriptygoddess put “I feel kind of funny saying this - but I’ve never seen Dave’s site before.”
Apart from being the bloggies, it’s also the annual (semi-annual, who really knows?) BLAST furnace reunion show. Similar to the event that occurred in aug and jan of last year I’m hoping that the gig is an insane-success. Usually half the band is blind drunk and the other half are just holding on with all their might as the BLAST furnace roller-coaster rip-roars through all the things that music has to offer. Like always the band is also changing its line-up slightly, we’re re-acquiring a guitarist, dropping an electronics-expert, scoring a moog-ist, and giving a homeless, harmonica player somewhere to be for an evening. We’re expecting fatalities and I’m hoping it’s not my equipment, last August’s show saw the demise of a bass-drum as it was introduced to the ass-end of a bass-guitar.
Two nights ago also saw Melange headline down in a basement pub and even though we weren’t on until midnight and ended up hanging around for multiple hours, the evening was a lot of fun - a good reminder of how much I do like the boys in my band.
